"Simple" Logic
  1. We have frequent requests for a logic book "for dummies". Dr. Willard recommends getting an older edition of Irving M. Copi's Introduction to Logic.

A Place for Truth:
Leading Thinkers Explore Life's Hardest Questions

Dr. Willard is the editor of this remarkable volume in which a number of outstanding Christian intellectuals, along with a few from other perspectives, deal with questions about truth itself and questions about several particular truths. Most prominent, in the latter respect, are questions about the existence of God and about how we ought to live, given the existence (or nonexistence of a God of the Judeo-Christian variety.

The Veritas Forum, under whose auspices the talks were originally given, is interested both in the current status of truth on the campus, and in how the basic claims of Christianity are now treated there. Its aim is to restore the university to its age-old character as “a place for truth.” Since its founding at Harvard in 1992, it has provided a place for the university world to explore the deepest questions of truth and life. The 15 chapters in this volume include presentations by Francis Collins, Os Guiness, Tim Keller, Alister McGrath, Hugh Ross, and N.T. Wright.

As you read these chapters be alert to recognize intelligence at work, in the framework of a worldview and a reality provided only by Jesus Christ and his people on earth--animated by the Spirit of God, which after all is the Spirit of truth. His people are not infallible, but they are devoted to truth and knowledge of the truth as the ultimate appeal concerning what to believe and what to do. In these pages they invite the academic and intellectual world to join them in that devotion.
